Wastewater Treatment

Wastewater treatment plants provide communities and companies with clean, reusable water and other beneficial resource recovery. For this essential service, Fuss & O’Neill provides planning, design, and construction services to ensure that municipalities and industrial facilities have safe and optimal systems.
Fuss & O’Neill’s wastewater engineers learn about our clients’ systems, current and future needs, and ongoing challenges. Our design solutions are customized to our clients’ specific monitoring and control requirements. We have experience in all phases of treatment plant upgrades, and our solutions increase energy efficiency, remove and re-use nutrients, and expand capacity. We understand that nutrient removals (nitrogen and phosphorus) are integral to permitting treatment trains, and that removal of forever chemicals (PFAS, PFOA) and constituents of emerging concern (microbeads, personal care products) are increasingly required to produce safe residuals and treatment plant discharges.
Our cost-effective strategies include equipment evaluation at early stage when most of the lifecycle costs can be determined; identifying methods for preventive and/or predictive maintenance; implementing CMMS to streamline labor and materials; and planning and scheduling maintenance in a manner that optimizes labor resources, parts, and tools. We evaluate emergency power systems and recommend upgrades and additional power sources to ensure resiliency, reliability, and redundancy of service. We work with municipalities and companies to improve their operations so that they can best serve their communities.
